On the Road from Texas to California. The exhibition displays 14 images which tell the powerful fascination Marco Bertani had for this territory, that resulted in a collection of photographs from his numerous trips to the United States. Far away from the American Myth, this rather is the Real country, miles away from the tourist routes, and from the famous coasts that shape our American imagination. Endless landscapes and extra urban structures unequivocally delabré, the sign of a human presence that has never fulfilled the American dream, and that floats on daily life its own way. These photos represent a significant selection of all Bertani’s travel reports, which he made in 35mm and 120mm film so as to highlight, along with the technique, the deep, curious, and together passionate and critical approach, when observing the world through his eyes and his lens. All the photos are in colour, not for virtuosity’s sake, but because the colour is embodied within its stylistic signature which, if on one hand seems to offer a document, it instead poetically emphasizes, above all, the gap between the beauty of a perfect image and the reality behind what looks so romantic in its decadence.
